7.2 Computer Vision
Computer vision is AI that understands images and video - recognising objects, faces, text and scenes.
Chapter 7: Major Areas of AI
Computer vision teaches machines to "see". To a computer an image is just a grid of numbers (pixel colours). Vision models learn to turn those numbers into meaning.
The main tasks: classification (what's in this image?), object detection (where is each thing? draw a box around it), segmentation (outline exactly which pixels belong to what), and OCR (reading text in images).
You see it in face unlock, scanning documents with your phone, photo search, AR filters, self-checkout, medical imaging and self-driving cars.
